A 14 year old MYP from Leicestershire has led a march to stop the heart unit that saved her life as a baby being moved to Birmingham.
Ria Pahwa, pictured, was born with a serious heart condition that doctors feared could have killed her within hours had she not received care from the children’s heart unit at Glenfield Hospital. Ria fears that moving the unit to Birmingham could have a potentially fatal impact on newborns in her area.
As part of her biggest campaign during her two year term as an MYP, Ria recently led a march of more than 70 people through the town of Syston to oppose the move, collecting support and signatures along the way.
She said: “If the Youth Parliament can work together I think the Government will reconsider it.”
