“Votes at 16” Action Week! Sign Up for the Future! 6th March 2012

Votes at 16

This week, 5th – 11th March, is the Votes at 16 Action Week, and we need you to spread the word and sign up.

Action Week is all about promoting the campaign, drumming-up support, and most importantly getting signatures on the Votes at 16 e-petition. We already have over 1,500 signatures but we want to reach at least 20,000 before the week is over.

Throughout the week and in the run up to it, we will be supporting campaigners across the UK to take action online by adding their name to the petition, and within their schools, colleges and local communities by promoting the campaign and collecting signatures for the petition.

Help us make this week of action a success by printing off the Votes at 16 petition sheet, and using the following sample tweets, Facebook posts and web copy to promote the Votes at 16 Action Week to your supporters and networks. Let’s show we’re ready for Votes at 16!

Take Action

Collect signatures for the e-petition. Download our e-petition sign up sheet here and collect signatures from young people in your area, whether this is at school, college or university or in your community, to show their support for votes at 16. You could also run a panel debate on the issue or meet with your local MP or Councillors about votes at 16 in order to make some noise about the campaign.

When collecting people’s details make sure they give all their details and know that they are signing up to add their name to the e-petition (their details will not be displayed publicly on the site) and to receive updates on the votes at 16 campaign. Please post completed forms back to our postal address here. We can send you a Stamped Addressed Envelope with copies of the petition and stickers if you email us at votesat16@byc.org.uk
