Support our campaigns

There are many things you can do to support our campaigns – sign petitions, complete surveys, send letters, spread the word – all of which are vital to their success. Visit the campaign area of the UKYP website.

Join our debate forums

The UKYP online forums are a space where all young people can gather to discuss the issues which are most important to them. Public transport, climate change, school, bullying – whatever you’re passionate about, there will always be other young people to debate with. Click here to join the UKYP online forums.

Vote in your local UKYP election

UKYP elections generally take place between December and February each year in most parts of the UK. Members of Youth Parliament are elected to represent all young people living in the area. Over 1 million young people, aged 11-18, have voted in UKYP elections over the last two years. To find out when and where you can vote, please click here, contact your local youth service or send an email to elections@ukyouthparliament.org.uk

Stand for election

If you are aged 11-18 and want to have a greater involvement with UKYP, then why not consider standing for election as a Member of Youth Parliament (MYP)? Once elected, MYPs are responsible for representing the views of all young people in their area. MYPs will take part in projects, campaigns and events, put the views of young people forward, attend a national sitting and much, much more! For more information on becoming an MYP, please click here. To find out dates of upcoming UKYP elections please click here.

Shadow a government minister

The Government has decided it is not going to continue funding the Ministerial Shadowing scheme. This doesn't change the Government's commitment to young people and they are encouraging Ministers to find ways to engage with young people, including inviting then into their offices for shadowing opportunities. We'd like to thanks everyone who has applied and wish them the best for the future - and hope they'll find other ways to get engaged with UK Youth Parliament.

Attend a UKYP event

Throughout the year there are opportunities for young people to attend UKYP events. If you are interested in finding out more, or attending an event in your area, join the UKYP mailing list.
