Chante Joseph
I am the elected Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) for Brent. My job is to represent the voice of young people in this area.
Brent | MYP | Elected: 28th January 2012
My priorities
Hey Guys, I’m Chante and I’m the UKYP representative for Brent. Being elected on to UKYP through Brent Youth Parliament was an absolute privilege and I would just like to thanks all those who voted for me. I’m now fully dedicated to helping out young people all across Brent and making them feel important; like they have a voice. UKYP is a great way to form cohesions with other boroughs and an effective way to get me to knowing more young people in Brent and see what affects them. As an MYP for Brent I will be fully committed to helping out young people in Brent and being the leader that I was elected to be. However I can’t do this by myself - I am YOUR representative, so young people in Brent tell me the issues and the problems that you face on a day to day basis. I am intrigued by your passion to make a change in our society and I want to work with you to achieve that. It’s about the communication within the borough that’s important so don’t be afraid to call or email me if you have any major issues. I’m not a dictator in Brent I’m just a voice to voice your opinions and thoughts. There are 72,000 young people in Brent and you are all important and all deserve to have a say ! My personal aim as UKYP rep for Brent is getting more and more young people involved with their local safer neighbourhood teams/Panels. If you have an issue that is specific to only your ward in Brent whether that be Dollis Hill, Stonebridge etc. Your safer neighbourhood panels are quick to get to the route of the problem and solve it. In order to build an impressive bigger picture for Brent we must first deal with the smaller issues as every little helps - I couldn’t help but quote Tesco there - If you want more information about your local SNP/SNT then please feel free to email me to meet and discuss at the next Brent Youth Parliament session. Until then, young people remember you are the future and the present and your voice is equally as important as everybody else's.
