To lower the voting age to 16

How does your campaign have an impact on all young people?

Lowering the voting age to 16 will allow young people to hold the government to account on issues which affect them. It’s an added incentive to young people to engage in political participation. Young people enjoy being trusted, and would embrace the opportunity.  It will allow them to go straight from citizenship lessons to the ballot box.

What would be the ultimate goal of this campaign?

To extend the franchise to the age of 16.

What challenges do you expect to face if this was to become a national campaign?

That the turn out percentage would be lowered.  People might argue that 16 year olds are not responsible enough to vote or that they are not well enough informed.  They might also argue that 16 year olds are easily swayed by arbitrary things.
