Web: www.barnardos.org.uk

Barnardo's helps around 30,000 children and young people a year through over 285 community based projects. Volunteer roles include: helping out at an after school club for young people with disabilities; providing admin support in an office; running a playgroup for pre-school children; working with residents in a disadvantaged community; organising a fundraising function; and working in one of 326 high street shops.

Citizens Advice Bureaux

Web: www.nacab.org.uk/

The CAB Service provides free, confidential, impartial, independent advice to everyone regardless of race, sex, disability or sexuality from over 2000 outlets in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We use evidence gathered from nearly six million enquiries from clients each year to campaign for change to national and local social policies and services. All Citizens Advice Bureaux are independent charities and we are able to influence local and national government and companies of all sizes when we see that people are being treated unfairly or being denied their rights.

Diana Award

Web: www.diana-award.org.uk

Bullying is a serious issue in our schools today and can make young people unhappy and frightened, sometimes resulting in devastating consequences. However, many young people across the UK are now doing some amazing work to tackle bullying and The Diana Anti-bullying Award, which was launched in July 2004, aims to recognise their achievements.

End Child Poverty

Web: www.ecpc.org.uk

The campaign to End Child Poverty is working to eradicate child poverty in the United Kingdom. We are formed from children’s and other charities, social justice groups, faith-groups, trade unions and others concerned about the unacceptably high levels of child poverty in the UK.

The National Trust

Web: www.thenationaltrust.org.uk

The National Trust aims to be recognised by young people and partner agencies as the premier environmental and heritage organisation working with young people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We aim to develop access and activities, which benefit both the National Trust and young people. Whether you are a youth worker, an organisation working with young people or a young person yourself, the National Trust has something to offer you.

Shelter

Web: www.shelter.org.uk

Shelter helps 100,000 people a year fight for their rights, get back on their feet, and find and keep a home. Shelter also tackle the root causes of Britain's housing crisis by campaigning for new laws, policies and solutions. Volunteer opportunities include working in Shelter shops and temporary Christmas card shops and volunteering in the Shelter Head Office.
