Name: Emrys
Green
Status:
Deputy MYP
Constituency:
Suffolk
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
Votes at 16, improving the NHS, and
every child matters - including facilities and UNCRC Article 12
compliance, and the improvement of Public Transport.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
Public transport and youth facilities.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
A better local bus service, to effectively
promote the views of my constituents, and to help the plans underway
for more youth provision.
What is your future career ambition?
To study politics and law, and so
to become a politician and / or a barrister. Although I also plan
on obtaining qualifications in technical theatre.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
None, I don't believe in idolising
public figures, but I do admire some people in my local community
that really help improve the community and educate young people,
particularly Tim Bond, Percy Ferrao, and Steve Andrews.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Improve the chance for under 18s to
have their say on issues, even if that includes letting 16 year
olds vote in elections, local or national.
Additional comments:
I run the Bury St Edmunds Youth Council,
and attend the St Edmundsbury Youth Forum, as well as sit on the
youth board of connexions Suffolk (Parallel board). I also sit on
the Steering Group for the Big Idea, a group involved in the development
of a new Children and young peoples centre, including offices for
organisations like UKYP, NCB, and Wizz Kidz. I therefore like to
find views related to many aspects of young people's lives and so
hope to be able to represent the views of young people in many ways
on many issues, in many places.
