Name: Danny
Nicklen
Status:
MYP
Constituency:
Thurrock
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
Nationally I'm very passionate about
Home affairs, anything regarding the politics of the Home Office
including law and order, asylum and immigration etc. Locally I'm
very passionate about the environment.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
In Thurrock young people ask me about
public transport more than any other issue, especially the debate
of prices of tickets for young people and when it is right for companies
to charge them adult fares. It is something which impacts on all
young people and is the hottest topic for us.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
This is my second year involved with
the UKYP and I will be hoping to continue working on the projects
I started last year. These include the establishment of Thurrock's
first youth cabinet which works alongside the local authority, and
encouraging young people to get involved locally to improve their
communities.
What is your future career ambition?
My career ambition is to be an MP
for Thurrock because I could earn money for what I love to do as
well as represent the people in my local community in Parliament.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
The public figure I most admire is
Roger Moore. A political figure - it has to be Margaret Thatcher.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Get your act together!
Additional comments:
Thank you to everyone who voted for
me. It's been great to work with all the other MYPs and DMYPs.
