Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
The issue which concerns me most is
education. I feel that the curriculum needs to be closely revised
and refined taking out things that are there purely to look good
on paper i.e. key skills in colleges. Another issue I feel strongly
about is equal rights for young people in practise as well as just
theoretically.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I feel in Brentwood the biggest issue
for young people is leisure activities. There is a huge gap in the
market for young people specifically between the ages of 15 and
20. I have personally been involved in various forms of campaigning
and discussion to save and restore good feelings towards the skatepark
and its users and that is one of the few realistically appealing
things to do for young people in my constituency.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
At this stage I am not entirely decided
as to what issues I want to attack in my term of office, but one
thing I am definitely aiming to achieve is an understanding of how
to get things done most effectively and with minimal hesitation,
something I think the current government has great need to address.
What is your future career ambition?
I wish to have a legal career and
then to move onto being an MP. Although at the moment I am still
very likely to change my ambitions and views on a career.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I would say the public figure I admire
the most rather controversially is Boris Johnson. I admire him firstly
because of his manner and I think that whilst his private life seems
to be a scandal he has managed to keep face amazingly well and keep
quite a high level of public respect despite past issues. And he
deserves respect for his amazing knowledge as his programmes on
Rome have demonstrated. Mostly I believe he has been unfairly cut
short in his career as an MP for an issue that I don't personally
feel effects his judgement or credibility as a professional.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
If I could say one thing to today's
government it would be; being a multicultural society and embracing
other religions is a big step forward, however forgetting your own
culture and denying your own heritage is a far bigger step back.
And I feel the balance needs to be found again. It's got to the
point now where you can't say something perfectly legitimate without
being told it's politically incorrect, and this is directly taking
away freedom of speech. This can't continue!
