Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
Young people being involved in decision-making!
I believe that without an effort from all sides there will never
be an understanding between adults and young people. I believe that
all local organisations should sign up to the Hear By Right standard
in order for progress to be made. I come from a borough where many
young people from all walks of life have opinions that should be
listened to; these should be listened to because people have chosen
to listen and not because they have been forced.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
There are many issues for the young
people in Kensington and Chelsea, however the biggest issues for
young people in the borough include housing and crime. There is
not enough housing in the borough for everyone and the ones that
are available are too expensive. Crime is a big issue as it is becoming
the norm to hear of someone getting hurt. Knives are also a big
issue as it is becoming clear that more and more young people are
carrying them for various reasons.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to give the young people of
Kensington and Chelsea a voice! I hope to highlight the issues which
are important to the young people in the borough and try to find
a way to help solve these issues.
What is your future career ambition?
I have just completed my diploma in
childcare and education, and would like to work with children as
a career!!
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I admire many women including all
of those in Parliament. I also have one particular youth worker
who I will always admire, Alwyne Colley. Alwyne Colley is a woman
who never takes no for an answer, she never loses faith even when
someone else does! Alwyne never forgets about the young people in
her borough and always values their opinions. She tries wherever
possible to involve them in decision-making. Alwyne always sees
past her own needs and wants and welcomes diversity. She is great!
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
I would say that young people do have
a voice and that they should be encouraged to use it. I would say
that when young people are given a chance to make a valuable contribution
to the world they are able to do it. Give the great young people
of today a chance, they may surprise you!
Additional comments:
I am very grateful for this post and
would like to thank the young people from all over Kensington and
Chelsea for voting, as without them I would not be doing this today.
Thank you!
