Constituency:
Kensington and Chelsea

Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
The involvement of young people in
ALL decision-making! I am a massive fan of the National Youth Agency
and Local Government Association's Hear By Right Standards and believe
that every single local authority should sign up to them. I've written
articles on this topic for national magazines, passion is not the
word! I come from a Borough full of examples of good practice, young
people have a lot to say about everything and I think that they
should be listened to always, not out of choice but out of necessity!
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
Housing is a big issue; affordable
housing in the future for today's young people in Kensington and
Chelsea is a massive issue and worry. Stop and Search is also an
issue for our young people, as well as the issue of knives and carrying
them. Many young people do not know their rights with regards to
the law on knives and stop and search and so it is becoming an issue
for young people to understand where they stand.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
A greater awareness amongst young
people of the UKYP and of the different avenues that are available
to them in order to participate more in decision making.
What is your future career ambition?
I want to be the first fashion designer
to sit in the House of Commons!
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I admire a lot of people; I get my
inspiration from all over the place! The individual I most admire
isn't a public figure, she's my Youth Participation Officer Alwyne
Colley! Like me she is passionate about the involvement of young
people. She always speaks her mind and is never afraid to back down!
Whenever I have lost faith in political systems she's always there
to remind me to keep on chiselling away!
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Encourage today's young people to
become the leaders of tomorrow. Actions speak louder than words.
