Constituency:
Sunderland
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I feel very strongly about letting
young people vote at 16 as it allows young people to take part in
decision making. Fair-trade is also on my agenda for action and
I'm looking at working with local businesses in one of the towns
in my constituency and aiming to make it a fair-trade town. Another
issue I feel strongly about is the mosquito system that is being
used to stop teenagers hanging around outside shops.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I feel that transport and safety on
public transport is an issue in Sunderland, I also think that the
image of young people is a real issue too.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to work with local businesses
to make Houghton a fair trade town, I am also working on "We're
all ears" campaign which will let young people have there voices
heard and acted on. I will be working with the council and MPs,
campaigning against the Mosquito system used against teenagers hanging
around shops. I will make sure that the young people of Sunderland
are listened to!
What is your future career ambition?
At the minute I'm not really sure
what I'd want to do.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Nelson Mandela as I think he is really
inspiring and stood up for what he believed in no matter what faced
him.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Make a u-turn on city academies as
it is giving the opportunity for people to hijack education by setting
up academies and funding schools. The academies in the North East
have shown that results don't improve by them.
