Status:

Constituency:
Durham
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I feel particularly strongly about
opportunities for younger people in education (as this will soon
effect me; tuition fees etc.) and about healthy lifestyles and eating
habits. I take an interest in encouraging young people to eat healthily,
and I support Jamie Oliver's campaign to improve eating habits in
schools.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
From the information I've collected,
and from my own knowledge, I think a key issue is the lack of/variety
of activities taking place for young people in the area. I get a
sense that people do not know what is going on, or are, for various
reasons, dissuaded from participating.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to raise awareness of young
people concerning the issues mentioned, while raising the authorities
and council's awareness of the youth voice. And following UKYP's
aims, help to set up/maintain a link between the two.
What is your future career ambition?
Although I'm unsure of which career
is right for me, I'm interested in media/advertising and politics.
I'm also keen to use my French in my career if possible. At college
I'm studying English Language, Politics, French and Law at AS.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I have great admiration for many people,
but I feel Ellen McCarthur is a role model for everyone. I respect
her determination, belief in herself and her ability, and her willingness
to push the boundaries and the conventions.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
If I could send one message to Government,
it would concern the current issues involving young people. Health/lifestyle,
money (H.E. specifically) and bullying. Not one message, but one
theme there.
