--------------------------------------------------------

Which political issues are you most passionate about?

I feel very passionately about rights for immigrants and asylum seekers, especially young people and children. I am strongly opposed to victimisation of these people by the government and the press. I am also an active anti-war campaigner and have attended quite a few anti-war meetings and demonstrations. I also oppose the new Terrorism laws and the introduction of ID cards which I believe will have quite a negative impact on young people.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

I think the biggest issue for young people in my constituency is racism and poverty. My town, Burnley, is quite deprived and racially split. There have been several positive campaigns in Burnley to solve these problems but there is still work to go. I think building bridges between communities and raising people's standard of living will also help to reduce crime in my area, especially drug related crime.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

During my term I hope to help build channels of communication between my town's youth council and the local council and county council. Also I would like to see more links between local youth groups and decision makers and hope to work to build these links. I would also like to get the UKYP to re-consider its decision to support ID cards in its manifesto.

What is your future career ambition?

In the future I hope to either be a physicist or a psychoanalyst.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

I most admire George Galloway. I admire him because he stands up for what is right. I enjoyed watching him attend a Senate Hearing and using it to put forward his anti-war message to the Senators. Also the speeches he has given and his views are rarely self censored. I agree with him most of the time and respect him for standing up for poor people of England.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

I don't want to send a message, a voice is silent if it falls on deaf ears. I want - through the UKYP - to help participate in actions that really help make a change. Of course it is always important to tell the government what we feel, but we mustn't let ourselves be ignored.
