Name: Terri
Maginess
Status:
Deputy MYP
Constituency:
Halton
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I am most passionate about young people
in Halton having places to go and things to do. From talking to
young people in the borough they said that if they had places to
go and things to do it would encourage them to engage in positive
activities rather than hanging round the streets drinking and smoking.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
The biggest issue for young people
in my constituency is not having anything to do and the lack of
facilities for them to access. Young people are bored and therefore
are more likely to be involved in anti-social behaviour.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
During my term in office I hope to
put forward all ideas from young people about what they would like
in their area. I would like to see more positive relationships between
young people and the police and would like to raise awareness of
issues facing young people.
What is your future career ambition?
My future career ambition is to achieve
enough qualifications to join the police force because I feel that
the police play a very important role within the community and that
is what I want to do.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I admire David Beckham not only because
of his football skills but because he has given a lot to young people
e.g. football academy which gives young people the opportunity to
play football and receive professional training.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Provide young people with more places
to go and things to do as opposed to issuing ASBOs for anti-social
behaviour. Give us the opportunity to channel our energy in a positive
way.
Additional comments:
Young people have a voice, people
need to listen to us.
