Name:
Sean McGuiness
Status: Deputy MYP
Constituency:
Warrington

--------------------------------------------------------

Which political issues are you most passionate about?

Human rights and injustice on a global scale. The disastrous illegal invasion of Iraq. It is also beginning to become clear that we need to take the environment more seriously, although this is not an issue I would say I was "passionate" about.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

Safety on the streets and at night. Many youngsters feel threatened and intimidated at night by groups who roam the streets looking for trouble and this deprives them of the freedom to walk around my constituency without fear of danger.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

To publicise politics to the youth of Warrington and to establish the Warrington Youth Parliament group as a prominent force in Warrington, so that it can continue to focus on issues which affect young people in years to come.

What is your future career ambition?

To read law at university in order to become a barrister specialising in employment law, human rights law and law of the European Union.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

George W. Bush, a man who, with the disadvantages he has - blatant lack of intelligence, criminal record, negligible knowledge of the world in which he lives - has managed to become one of the most powerful and therefore one of the most dangerous human beings on earth. Here is a fellow whom has truly triumphed in the face of adversity.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

Bite the bullet and form a coalition with the Conservatives so that a true left wing party can stand to be elected in the next term.
