Name: Roberta
Hoffman
Status:
MYP
Constituency: West Sussex
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
My main concerns include all environmental
issues and animal welfare including the live export trade of veil
calf which has been reintroduced after a ten year ban. I also hold
strong negative views about some animal testing. Another area I
hold strong views on is the way in which we live in a stereotypical
society and people are branded.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I think that in West Sussex young
people need to be made more aware what our future is going to be
like, focusing on the environment and how global warming will affect
it.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to raise more awareness of
environmental issues and bring together young people across the
UK to campaign for a better cleaner planet.
What is your future career ambition?
My future ambition is to work as a
journalist and hopefully concentrate on political and environmental
issues. I also want to rescue horses and donkeys which I know is
a bit random but I have grown up around them and love them!
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I think that a lot of people in the
public eye do a lot of things to be admired, for example Prince
Charles, who does a lot of work with young people. I don't have
a preference to any single public figure.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Many of the decisions made by the
government are unanimous and I think that they should try harder
to work together. Obviously there will be a lot of controversy in
government issues but if they aspired to be more diplomatic and
open to all views then all the time they spent arguing could be
used to make a better more united government, which young people
could look up to.
