Name: Katherine
Turner
Status:
MYP
Constituency:
Bournemouth
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
Voter apathy in particular where young
people are concerned as the older generation generally have better
voter turnout, as the government caters more to their views and
opinions. If most people do not vote, the democracy of the country
is at risk.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
Bullying is a key issue which affects
young people in our constituency as it can affect young people for
the rest of their life and can have serious repercussions in their
adult life.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
During my term of office I hope to
tackle bullying in schools and help to make Bournemouth a more young-people
friendly town.
What is your future career ambition?
In the future I would like to pursue
a career in politics as I feel that the country seriously needs
some changes being made for the better.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I generally admire people who do what
they believe to be the right thing even if public opinion is against
them. For this reason, I admire Tony Blair, because even though
I do not agree with his policies and ideas I think that he knows
nobody really supports him anymore but he is continuing to do what
he thinks is right.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Stop worrying about internal disputes
and do the job you were elected to do.
