Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
The political issues I feel most passionately
about include; the banning of wearing the hood of hooded jackets
in certain areas, how we (the youth) are victimised by society which
I believe is mainly because of stereotypes which is unfair as everyone
deserves the same chance whether 17 or 71. Another issue that I
feel passionately about is the fact that in certain highly populated
places we are not allowed to be in a group of two or more. Having
to disperse from a group leaves the young person more likely to
be attacked. The issue I feel the most strongly about is the fact
that we are always being stopped and searched by police which again
relates back to stereotypes and prejudices.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I have been told by young people in
my constituency that they are regularly stopped and searched. Most
of those who complain have nothing incriminating on them but still
find it humiliating and an inconvenience when it becomes a regular
occurrence. Another issue I find young people have is that they
feel they have not much funding or opportunities until they offend
or are put into the category of those who are likely to offend.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
During my term in office I hope to
represent the views of the young people I encounter, particularly
those in my constituency, and take their views as high as required
to get something done even if others will not.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
A public figure who I admire is Maya
Angelou. She is an intelligent person who struggled especially seeing
as she is a black woman who was raised in the times of oppression
but, through hard work and commitment she made her way up to a highly
respected person who went through may jobs such as, waitress, author,
actress, dancer, poet, choreographer, civil rights activist and
much more. She now stands with her head held high even after the
trauma she experienced in the deep south of the USA. She is truly
a public figure with an admirable inner strength which led her to
success. That is why I admire Maya Angelou.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
If there was one message I could send
to the government it would be, you seem so quick to judge and stereotype,
well there's a lot of exceptions to most stereotypes so please give
everyone an equal chance without prejudice.
