Name: Talha
Ghannam
Status:
Deputy MYP
Constituency:
Solihull
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I think the environment is something
we should all be concerned about as it affects us all. If we don't
act now, we're going to all eventually either boil or freeze to
death.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
The biggest issue for young people
in Solihull is that they don't feel they are represented by anyone
or can have their views heard. Many people have asked me why I joined
youth parliament presuming it has no influence. That's what I want
to change!
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to introduce a new discount
card which will be issued to young people in Solihull and elsewhere
where they will be given discounts to various shops and places.
I also hope to get more youth involvement in the council with maybe
introducing a youth councillor so young peoples' views can be voiced
directly to those that matter.
What is your future career ambition?
Well
a lot of things! I'm planning
to open up my own business of some kind in the future. I also hope
to go to university and get a degree in maybe economics. I'll then
enter politics after I've established myself and try do a good job
of running the country.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
The guy I admired most was Malcolm
X, a man whose life was truly a rollercoaster of a ride and in his
short life truly managed to make an impact on the world. He is an
inspiration to all young people as he lived 'in the mud' and truly
understands what it's like. Moreover, the transformation that took
place during his life is truly spectacular.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Stop interfering with other people's
business! You've already ruined two countries by doing so.
