Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I am most passionate about international
relations between our country and the others in the world. It is
in this arena that we, as a country, are most active at the moment.
The international War on Terror which we and the U.S. are involved
in will dominate the political stage for the next decade; the aftermath
of Iraq and Afghanistan is just now being realised.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
The biggest issue for young people
in my constituency is probably issues like the environment and getting
young people the vote. The environment, and all that is being done
to it at present, will have serious consequences for the next generation
of workers and leaders.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to generate a greater understanding
of the world around us in younger people during my term. Politics
is not the boring thing that people believe it is; it affects everything
in the world.
What is your future career ambition?
I really don't know. I would enjoy
being a politician in the future, though.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
There are many in public life that
I have admiration for: Blair - he does stand up for what he believes,
which takes some courage; Dr John Reid - I don't really know why
but I like the guy, he always actually answers a question on the
news, which is different to most government ministers.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
The government needs to begin to listen
to some of the voices of the people that they tend to ignore. There
are organisations and people up and down the country that need to
be listened to - and some that don't need to be.
