Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
Unilateral nuclear disarmament! Britain should set an example to the rest of the world and NOT renew the Trident nuclear deterrent. Then we can start preaching to Iran and North Korea about them having Nuclear weapons.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
The biggest issue in my constituency would have to be the environment. Ensuring that people recycle and use environmentally friendly transport is at the top of everyone’s agendas, from No 10 politicians to the young people of Watford. Watford’s youth know that tackling global warming is the only way we can ensure that we have a world for our children to grow up in.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
During my term of office I hope that I can help to strengthen the youth voice in the government of young people at a local, regional and national level. We need to make sure that adults consult young people on matters such as education as we are invariably the most affected by changes!
What is your future career ambition?
After university I want to become a lawyer, specifically a barrister, with the possibility of going into politics later on.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Sir Menzies Campbell CBE QC MP - I think his name sums it up really or more specifically everything around his name. He has accomplished so much in his life and is still going strong at 65; he still brings such passion to his speeches in the House of Commons and can easily take on the younger Blair and the much younger Cameron, despite his age. I have to say when I’m 65 if I am half the politician he is I’d be thrilled. I also admire him for ensuring the Liberal Democrat Party stands resolutely for its core beliefs of promoting human rights, green policies and anti-war.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Start listening to young people. We’re going to be the people voting for you, or not as the case may be, in the near future so listening to us can only be of benefit to you and in turn us.
