Name: Josh Oddi
Status: MYP
Constituency: Cambridgeshire
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I'm not sure really, I suppose my involvement with the UKYP has spurred my political interest. Politics, at the moment, affects almost every part of my life, from taking a more political interest in the education system (I now have a reason for making teachers’ jobs hell), to sitting down to watch prime minister’s questions every Wednesday (I know it’s boring).
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I'd have to say democracy and representation in schools. This has been a campaign Cambridgeshire has been working on recently. I also believe the press are too harsh on young people.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to improve the perception of young people in the press, and hope to achieve this through my role as young person’s press officer for East Cambridgeshire.
What is your future career ambition?
I would really like to become an MP, and who knows maybe even PM!! If not, then an acting career on the stage.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I'd have to say Stephen Fry. His amazing intelligence and wit just astounds me. I've read a couple of his books and they are fantastic, I'd recommend them to anyone.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
GO AWAY! Let the conservatives in... only joking. But Labour really need to get rid of Mr Blair, but don’t let Brown in.
Additional comments:
I really look forward to my next year with the UKYP, can't wait for the national!
