Which political issues are you most passionate about?

Some of the issues I am most passionate about are Crime and education, especially SRE (sex & relationship education). I am also a strong supporter of the campaign to reduce university tuition fees.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

Crime is certainly a big issue for people in my constituency. Too many people feel intimidated because of a small minority of youths who pick on victims to mug, or start fights with. More should be done in order to make more young people feel safer in their community. Education is just as important because it is the key to our future and if the schools aren't getting it right, we’ll all suffer.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

I want to represent Merton to the best of my ability, so that young people feel they have a voice. I want to make a positive difference in the community. I am going to start a Road Safety Awareness campaign in local schools and I am going to work with neighbouring boroughs on a “Green Card” project. I’ve already taken part in several projects in the area and I hope to continue this for as long as possible.

What is your future career ambition?

I’m still keeping my options open, although the three areas that really interest me are Drama, Politics and the Law.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

I don’t have a particular person that I admire more than other people, although as a Chelsea fan, I feel Jose Mourinio has a great attitude when it comes to managing a team. I also like Alan Sugar because of his determination and quick thinking when it comes to business.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

Listen to everyday people and make sure your doing everything you can to serve the country, not yourselves. I would also like to see tougher punishments on those who are convicted of serious crimes, so that it acts as more of a deterrent in our society.

Additional comments:

I’m determined to do justice for the young people in my constituency during my term of office. If you’d like to know more about what’s being done for you in Merton, or if you have any ideas or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to send me an email at conorj_myp@yahoo.co.uk
