Name: Ese Okperin
Status: MYP
Constituency: Richmond upon Thames
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
Making young people aware of the youth services available and making sure young people can influence the things that affect them.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
Education, education, education. Education is always going to be an important issue among young people. One thing I am doing on this issue is arranging a “pupil training day” where students give advice and feedback to teachers on things like, how to control a class and how to deal with bullying.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to achieve a lot in my term. But one thing in particular is to get young peoples’ services on to young people’s lips. I want young people to know they can go to x for counselling, go to y for sexual health advice, go to z to have fun and so on.
What is your future career ambition?
A career in law is what I want. I love the idea of a battle of wits in court. I then aim to get into politics, and do good for people.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I don’t have a favourite public figure. But I admire the ordinary, everyday men and women who work hard to get things done.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
I would say: make sure young people are thought about in policies, and good luck in running the country.
Additional comments:
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. And thanks to those who have taken part in UKYP elections.
