Name: Steven
Carr
Status:
MYP
Constituency:
South Tyneside
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
Mental Health, bullying, drug abuse,
work and training, teenage pregnancy, young people in care and fostering,
local transport and many more which have been identified through
youth surgeries held across the borough.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
South Tyneside has one of the lowest
rates of employment levels in the country. Many young people come
from low income households and live in a community where there is
little opportunity for work. In most cases their ambitions of future
careers and education are destroyed through drugs and crime.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I wish to make the government listen
more to the North East, instead of focusing on London and the South
East. Issues such as transport are focused on too much, whereas
some of the real issues like self harm and mental health are pushed
away and forgot about.
What is your future career ambition?
My career ambition is to be an aircraft
engineer working in the R.A.F. I would also like to be a youth worker.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I admire Winston Churchill because
he saved our country from invasion. If it were not for this man's
outstanding leadership, the country most probably would have been
defeated.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
The message I would send to government
is that this generation is not just the future of the UK but we
are also the present and make a valuable contribution to society.
If you don't start listening to us, you could lose us forever.
Additional comments:
I am proud to represent South Tyneside
in the UKYP.
