Which political issues are you most passionate about?

Votes at 16. When you’re 16, you’re old enough to make important decisions, smoke, get a job, drive at 17. But we’re not old enough to vote for who controls the country? Why should this happen when decisions are made for people our age and younger? Why can’t we choose who makes these decisions for us?

Other issues I feel are important are sports facilities, how young people are seen by media and police, bullying, poverty and the war in Iraq.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

Participation - This is being able to take part in making decisions for things that affect young people. We give up our time to make important decisions, but other meetings we attend, we are just there clueless and don’t get a say in anything. Participation standards were launched in Knowsley last month, I want to enforce these so we get a chance to make changes for all young people in Knowsley and it’s my ambition for these to be introduced across the UK.

Transport - In and around my constituency, it is planned to get rid of child discounted fares - meaning they have to pay adult prices. I’m completely against this. It isn’t fair on people from poorer backgrounds; it will stop us from getting to school, going out with mates and taking part in things like sports. Also, the bus routes aren’t perfect. This is why I feel young people should be given cheaper transport, better routes, and not need to worry about the future.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

I hope to get the voices of the young people in Knowsley heard. A lot of youths give up their time to get their ideas across and I want to make sure they see the benefits of their participation. Also, I will try my best to influence change on the issues above.

What is your future career ambition?

I wouldn't mind being a pro basketball player or an actor, but if it doesn't happen for me, I want to be an investment banker or a corporate / employment lawyer.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

Not for his views or opinions because I am against the war in Iraq but I think that Tony Blair is someone to admire because the criticism he has received from politicians and the media could've led to him resigning last year but he still tried hard to keep himself leader of the party and government longer which not a lot of past leaders have been able to do. I think that it benefits the government because people won't vote for a party who can't agree with their own leader or turn against them, forcing them to tackle problems within the government when they should be focusing on the country they are responsible for.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

I think it would have to be 'watch out' because they should be getting young people involved sooner than later because we should get a say in the things that affect us.
