Name: Erik Brydges
Status: MYP
Constituency: West Sussex
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
The illegal war in Iraq. I believe that going to war was a catastrophe, and I can't believe Tony Blair agreed with "Ol' George W" and went. A lot of people said "No!", yet he still went. Can someone please explain to me how that works?
ID cards. I believe that it is wrong to have so much personal information on such a small, insecure card.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
Transport. The massive expensive to get anywhere using public transport. The huge price difference between Bus and Train fares. The unfair prices for 16+ on buses and trains.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to bring transport costs for 16+ down to child rate or a special 16-18 fare.
What is your future career ambition?
A lawyer, doctor, politician or management consultant.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Not a lot really! Ian Hislop. I admire and respect him for his work as editor for Private Eye. He digs up story's that politicians don't want anyone to know about. He is also a very very smart man and a brilliant comedian.
Paul Merton. I met him in London. He is such a nice guy, and a very smart, funny man.
This country wouldn't be the same without these two brilliant men.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
I would tell them to listen more to young people. We have a lot to learn from them, but equally, we have a lot to say.
Additional comments:
If I could ask Tony Blair a couple of questions...
Dear Tony,
Why did you become a politician? To make people's lives better? To help get the people’s views and opinions heard? To start illegal wars, which nearly every one is against? And we wonder why the west is hated by the Middle East. Was Iraq what your constituency asked for?
