Which political issues are you most passionate about?

- Improving school councils so young people from all levels – not just those confident or interested enough to get involved with student politics can have their views effectively represented.

- Student Voice in Education: getting the valuable opinions of young people to be heard, considered and hold sway over the future of modern education. Things like school councils, peer mentoring, youth governing boards and interview panels are all things I push for in my area.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

The way young people are viewed in Medway is a massive issue. In our area we have had lots of media attention concerning the behaviour of youth in Chatham and the Bluewater shopping centre, and the sanctions that have been imposed are often blanket punishments such as dispersal orders or banning of certain clothes.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

My main goal is to bear my responsibility: to relay the work and ideas of some of the amazing, pro-active, influential members of UKYP to my constituency, whilst developing my own ideas and getting inspiration from UKYP to make my mark on my local area.

What is your future career ambition?

I am interested in politics, history and law. I’m not sure what I want to do at University but it is a dream of mine to become a barrister or take a managerial role that can use my skills in people and communication.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

I admire Gary Lineker; during his football career he was never booked, which is a truly stupendous achievement, given that usually you see 2-8 players booked per game. He moved on to presenting and has gone from strength to strength even though he has had media attention about his personal life and divorce, and has been able to work through personal strain and still succeed. He’s a great example of sheer drive in a person.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

The government is a democracy - people within that democracy have the right collectively to choose their leaders, choose their lives and choose the way they live. Why, then, are a massive percentage of the population allowed to live in, work for, pay taxes to, fork out for public transport from, enlist, fight and die for their country… when their voices are not even listened to unless it is in some pointless tokenistic way?
