Name: Joanna Parish
Status: MYP
Constituency: West Sussex
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
- ID cards and CCTV – It seems all our privacy is being taken away from us and the government is turning the UK into another Big Brother.
- The debilitating state of affairs in the Middle East.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
- Transport – too expensive and too infrequent in rural settings.
- Cheaper and more accessible activities for young people
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I would like to effectively represent young people from all over the West Sussex region. I also hope to succeed in helping any initiated campaign run regionally or nationally.
What is your future career ambition?
In the future I hope to become a political journalist or something related to politics.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Margaret Thatcher, because even though many people looking back don’t wish to place her in a very positive light, she achieved a lot for this country and proved women are just as (politically) strong as men. People forget that if it wasn’t for her hard line policies towards the Unions, the economy of this country would still be in ruins. I don’t agree with everything she did, but anyone in power for 11 years is bound to make mistakes. She is an admirable woman.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Do more for global warming; there’s no point in fighting for anything else, if there isn’t going to be anything else to fight for.
