Name: Rebecca Phillips
Status: Deputy MYP
Constituency: Kent
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I am passionate about changing transport. It is far too expensive, fares are constantly changing and the condition of most public transport is appalling. I also feel that a positive body image is needed as the media has a heavy influence on the way young people feel they need to look.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I think transport affects young people most in Kent whether it’s the fares, state of the transport or the availability.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I would like to get involved in improving transport as this is such a big issue affecting young people. I would also like to get involved in some campaign about promoting a positive body image and also to make young people aware of their rights.
What is your future career ambition?
To get involved with either journalism or politics.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I don’t admire anyone specifically but I do value people that give something back to the community. I think that people should stop being so fixated on perfect beings and should learn to accept and be themselves.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Young people are just as important as every other citizen in the UK. Young people are the future, listen to what we have to say.
