Which political issues are you most passionate about?

I am incredibly passionate about University fees; we SHOULD NOT have to pay to qualify in a profession which is desperately needed in our country. It is not right. I also regard local youth issues as being of great importance, and above all, the right of young people to KNOW their rights and have a voice. Adults tend to forget we are individuals too and as a result, pass legislation which could potentially have a huge impact WITHOUT consulting us first. Not justified at all.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

The proposed skatepark plans which have been around for 7 years (since I was about 10), and the Council has basically ignored them despite young people making huge efforts to raise enough money to fund it. It is not good enough.

The excuses are wearing thin now, in fact, they have been wearing thin for more than 6 years now and I intend to pressure those who have the power to provide us with it. Also, there is currently discussion of a 28% cut in our local Youth Budget. I aim to raise as much awareness of this as possible and organise a counter-attack.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

I want to make a difference, I want to raise awareness, and above all, I want young people to realise that they CAN have a voice. We don't have to sit there and listen, we have rights too. In addition, I'm determined to get the skatepark!

What is your future career ambition?

Well, eventually, I hope to rule the world... But first, I intend to go to university to study Law and Politics and hopefully pursue a career in either or both.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

To be honest, I am not really aware of anyone who I admire in particular, unless I can say someone like Winston Churchill? He was a fantastic politician for a good 50 years and led Britain through a devastating war as well as majorly contributed to Social Reforms in the early 20th Century. I admire him to an extent, but I tend not to be too influenced by other people unless obviously, it's a young person in my constituency offering ideas.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

Do away with university fees. Give young people more credit, stop the stereotypes of our 'lack of capability' to be functional beings in society. Watch it, because I am on my way!

Additional comments:

Thank you very much for reading, I look forward to having the opportunity to represent BANES youth and make our community a better place, as well as hopefully contribute to other constituencies too.
