--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
Education: From my own experience there’s not enough awareness of disabilities or special needs and young people can be treated differently to everyone else. I want to work on changing people’s attitudes to young people who may need this different help.
SRE – I want this taught differently. I want this subject taught by people who are comfortable with the subject and willing to discuss it in an unembarrassed way that’s clear and understandable.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
Transport – more cycle paths. Taxi drivers/bus drivers to be friendlier to young people.
More recycling banks. I feel they should be made more attractive e.g. by cleaning them more often and by putting up sculptures made of re-cycled materials. They should also be put in more accessible places.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I want to make a difference to the lives of young people in Somerset. I want to be part of a group of people who feel strongly enough to actually make real changes.
What is your future career ambition?
I want to study dance/drama and eventually would like to teach in secondary schools. I particularly like directing and choreography and could see myself having this as a career.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Queen Elizabeth I – I find her inspiring because she was a strong, independent woman who took the country forwards. She was wise in how she allowed different views to her own but still led strongly.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
I would say to Tony Blair not to spend so much time following George Bush and more time thinking issues through before making important decisions.
