Name: Chris Hinde
Status: MYP
Constituency: Dorset
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
The threat to the world posed by Global Warming. We in MEDCs are empowered to make positive changes to our lifestyles to combat the irreversible changes to our world which grow worse by the day. We, along with the rest of the world, must change our ways.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
The inhibition of freedom for many, especially those in the most rural areas, who have no youth facilities on their immediate doorstep and are prevented from using those which are available by the terrible state of the public transport infrastructure. We need better funded, more regular, transport options for the significant proportion of young people living outside our major towns.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
In the next year, the Dorset MYPs will work together to publicise the work that UKYP does, and to ensure that we, as MYPs, are accessible to those who need to raise concerns. I would like to push Climate Change and green issues to the fore in young people’s minds.
What is your future career ambition?
I have always entertained the idea of being a prominent political figure, and UKYP will help me to experience what this would be like. However, I am also very interested in science and maths, and so a career in a related area such as finance or research may beckon.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I think Chris Moyles is a legend. He knows exactly how to interact with his audience, and never fails to start off my day with a laugh!
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
I would ask the Government to make a much greater effort to inspire young people about their futures, and the value that they represent to society.
