Which political issues are you most passionate about?

In an increasingly multi-cultural society I am concerned that unless active steps are taken to integrate groups, our community could become divided, nurturing fear and hate for the unknown. Global warming is also an issue which I am concerned about. In my opinion, if carbon emissions are going to be reduced there needs to be an incentive for the public to use public transport, such as a reduction in cost or increased services.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

Young people in Stafford and Stone, generally have bad press, due to the common sight of 'yobbish' behaviour on the streets. Through meeting with young people on my campaign, I was struck with the common complaint: 'we have nothing to do.' The real issue behind such behaviour lies in the void of social activities for teenagers to get involved in. Under the age of 18 and so too young to get into bars, there are few places to go which match the criteria of being fashionable, informal and undisciplined for young people. Therefore, teenagers have little choice but to meet their friends on the streets. Regrettably, I feel bad behaviour is a direct consequence of boredom.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

Locally, I hope to work towards getting somewhere for the young people of Stafford and Stone to hang out. Somewhere fashionable, undisciplined and informal. There is a lot of positive musical talent out there amongst the young people. I'd therefore like to see some kind of cafe bar set up, with a facility for bands and artists to play - getting people off the streets and nurturing local talent.

Nationally I am looking forward to getting involved in campaigns regarding the cost of public transport for young people and the cost of university for students.

What is your future career ambition?

I am yet to pinpoint exactly what career I wish to go into. I plan to take a law degree at the end of my A-levels, after which I am seriously considering a career in law or politics. I am also a dedicated singer and I would welcome any opportunity to pursue this as a profession.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

I don’t admire any particular public figure. I have a lot of respect for anybody who speaks up to help others. Those who show a marvellous strength of character have my admiration.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

I'd ask that they continue to listen to young people. I believe that, although we might not have years of experience, we have fresh original voices, which would be a valuable addition to decision making.
