Name:James Bayliss
Position: MYP
Constituency: Cornwall
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I feel very passionate about concessionary fares for public transport for young people, as young people often do not get much money. Also I feel that the representation of young people in the media could be improved so that young people are treated with the respect they deserve.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
Public transport and the associated costs in a predominantly rural area and also the lack of facilities for young people.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
Working with another MYP from Dorset, I hope to get national concessionary fare cards for young people introduced, and to improve the poor representation of young people in the media.
What is your future career ambition?
I would like to become an MP because I love the thought of changing the world, and also one day I would like to move myself into 10 Downing Street and become Prime Minister.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Winston Churchill. Firstly, he did not play party politics, and during the Second World War, he never gave in. He was a true leader.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
I think the Government should listen to the voice of young people, because young people are the future of this country so their views must be taken into account.
Additional comments:
This year, I will listen to young people and work with other MYP’s to try and influence the Government to change the lives of young people for the better.
