Which political issues are you most passionate about?

The issues I am most passionate about are: the ridiculous cost of bus travel for young people as this is limiting the opportunities and facilities young people have access to; the amount of waste and lack of recycling due to laziness and arrogance that is killing the environment and causing global warming as well as improving the education system by giving more training to teachers on young people’s attitudes to the political issues they face daily, so they can influence young people to make the right, not the easy decisions.I am also very strong about equality and discrimination leading to youth violence and in particular the use of weapons.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

There are many issues that are important to the young people in my constituency and it would be impossible to choose one over the other but, trying to ensure fair and accurate representation of young people in the media and change the way adults generalise youth as “yobs” is an issue that every young person has to deal with and one they think needs to be tackled.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

At the moment I think the most important and the most feasible issue I can achieve is creating a concession card, which will allow free or reduced bus travel for young people in and around Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We need affordable bus fares that will give young people the change to go to places that are not necessary available in the local area. so far, this overly price travel option means young people have less access to opportunities and facilities. We need places to go where we can be respected and have fun without the cost!

What is your future career ambition?

At the moment I am undecided about my future, but as I am currently coming to the end of compulsory education, I have been accepted to various sixth forms and I am deciding where to attend. All of the subjects I have taken are ones I really enjoy (including government and politics) and I am hopefully going to do well. I am enjoying life at the moment and I’m happy, so what more do you need?

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

I don’t have a single public figure I admire but, there are many people whose selflessness and willingness to devote their life to improving the lives of others I respect and look up to. The person who influenced me to be the person I am was my mum who gave me a strong sense of what was right and wrong and how to stand up for what I believe in.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

Young people all over the UK are devoting their time to making the lives of young people better, the youth of today are trying to make a difference regardless of the limited resources and the knowledge that many people do not want to know and they are going to be get knocked back. Stop assuming that young people are dangerous, untrustworthy yobs and start to help us create a better world for the next generation. You’ve said it yourself; young people are the future.
