Position: MYP
Constituency: Bournemouth

Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I 'm most passionate about the way young people are viewed by the media. I 'm fed up with all young people being labled as ‘Yobs’ or ‘Hoodies’ that go out every night mugging old ladies, when it is only the small minority that do that. What about all our positive achievements? Why are they not recognized?
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
Bus fare is a huge issue in Bournemouth. On the Yellow Buses young people have to pay 90p no matter how long or short the journey is, which is ridiculous. Why should we pay the same price to travel up the road as we do to travel to the other side of Bournemouth? Plus, to be able to buy a child fare, you have to show a ‘Citizenship’ card to prove your age. If you do not have one, you have to pay adult fair. How is this fair? Another large issue is how young people ALWAYS seem to be followed around by police in Bournemouth, which is unfair. Fair enough some young people can be a real pain and cause chaos, but it isn’t all of us. Just give us a break.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to achieve changes in Bournemouth over the next year, or at least start the ball rolling for change in Bournemouth, as changes take time. But I will get out there and do it.
What is your future career ambition?
I have a few ideas in mind, possibly something to do with medical or politics. As long as I am having fun I don’t mind.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
umm…to be honest I don’t admire anyone. Sure there are people who do good things, but at this moment in time there is nobody that stands out. I’ll just have to wait and see if anyone comes along…
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
To be honest, it is not as if they would listen anyway. I would tell them to listen to young people, understand our opinions and take them on board. Work with us, not against us.
Additional comments:
Keep smiling.
