Constituency: Stoke-on-Trent

Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I am really interested in what the government is doing about drink driving and smoking. I think the raise in smoking and drinking ages is a good idea because many young people are abusing themselves with smoking and drinking in my area, and the law will hopefully make it harder for young people to get these substances.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
Possibly sex and STI’s because we get warned about it in the media, but we aren’t taught that much about them in KS3. Therefore, I think we should have more Sex Education lessons in KS2 and KS3 to raise awareness to the young people.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
Improve young people’s confidence and let them speak out and have their say in what is happening to the country. Also, I would like to break the barriers between different stereotypes and generations and get more people talking to each other and getting involved to make these decisions.
What is your future career ambition?
I have two options, both that I would like to consider: either a dentist or a science teacher. I love science and would love to work with younger and older people. So, these careers will be perfect.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I really admire people like Josiah Wedgwood and Gladstone because they are creative and their pottery made Stoke-on-Trent a tourist attraction and made it known to other places in the UK. Also, their museums are a great place for school trips for young people.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
My message would consist of a request for more activities and place for younger people to do and to be. I would request this because there aren’t many places like that in my area and young people need to be taken off the street.
