Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
If I had to choose three key issues they would be: the unfair pressures put on the youth of today via schools and exams, cheaper public transport and the negative way in which the youth is portrayed in the media.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
In Birmingham, the most popular response to the question “What would you change about your city?” was: “make public transport better”, which included lowering the prices, enforcing the smoking ban on buses, making them cleaner as well as making it more reliable.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to make sure the regional meetings run as smoothly as possible by getting all the necessary discussion and work done, but keeping everyone happy and relaxed at the same time. I also hope to do work with others on the positive images of youth in the media campaign as well as making a real difference to how young people are shown to the rest of the population.
What is your future career ambition?
I have no idea what I want to do for a living, but at university I am torn between studying Physics and English. Both are completely different subjects, but lead on to fascinating and fulfilling careers. Politics has recently become a bigger part of my life. Because of this, I have even begun to consider something different, such as Philosophy.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Personally, I prefer to be more individual and get by without idols or heroes, though I would have to say, though he has nothing to do with politics, I am a huge fan of Hugh Laurie, who is a role model of mine. I admire him for using and flaunting his incredible talents, which span across several fields; from acting and music, to writing and sport. I also admire his modesty, intelligence and poise.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Education as a whole issue is incredibly important to me. I feel that the education system in Britain on the whole is very good, especially considering the 98% pass rate at GCSE. But looking at just grades is not enough: both from personal experience and research, it is clear that the youth of Britain are not happy, and I believe this is due to the unnecessary pressure put on them by the government, schools, parents, teachers and even themselves.
Additional comments:
Here is motto which I have always followed, and which I plan to especially keep in mind during my term in office: “Curiosity never killed the cat, apathy took care of that.”
