Constituency: Birmingham

Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I am concerned about increasing technology; CCTV, ID cards, Biometric Passports, information databases and the DNA database meaning that the Government may be becoming more intrusive into our lives and trying to control it more and more – they might even lose the discs in the post!
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I think that the UK Youth Parliament talks a lot about representing young people but that it isn’t known too well where I live. I think it is an issue to publicise it so people are aware of the UK Youth Parliament and so can actually get involved!
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I have been elected for the Birmingham UK Youth Parliament Schools Rep, an initiative I designed, and hope to help publicise the UK Youth Parliament to secondary schools in Birmingham with meetings and assemblies, but also with internet networking groups. The more people know the more get involved!
What is your future career ambition?
I hope to progress further into politics, becoming an MP in Parliament. I am also interested in journalism, as a way of getting into politics.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
think this is a difficult question and could not pick just one person, but I would say anyone that can get their message across without compromising on the message would be a person to admire. I can’t think of anyone though! Can you?!
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
I would say that we, the people, need three things to become successful, free and happy and to run a veritable democracy: information, education and communication.
