Which political issues are you most passionate about?

Firstly climate change as it is an issue that will affect us all; also I’m passionate about education standards and the fact there seem to be inequalities between different schools. Lastly I feel strongly about the way the media portrays young people as “chavs” and trouble makers, and hardly ever mention all the good work young people do in their communities!

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

I think transport is a big issue for young people in my constituency because the price has been raised recently and it costs a lot for a young person using public transport regularly. Also there are problems with the standard of the transport and the safety while travelling. I hope in my term of office to address some of these issues with the local transport companies.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

I hope to research why education standards vary so much, but also as this is my second term of office carry on the work I’m doing about Sex and Relationships education on the scrutiny at my local council, also I want do more work with the media. Also I’d like to organise more events, speak at conference and have lots of fun!

What is your future career ambition?

I’d like to teach RS or politics at post-16 level, or go into politics and hopefully be elected as a member of parliament.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

Ruth Kelly, because she’s a successful MP but also manages to raise 5 children alongside her political career, and she’s younger than a lot of MPs and a woman in the cabinet who obviously really enjoys her job.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

To listen to and promote all the amazing work that loads of young people do up and down the country but also not to dismiss us as young people who don’t want know what we are talking about but who have a keen interest and knowledge to be able to successfully campaign for a better tomorrow.

Additional comments:

Thank you to all the people who voted for me and I’m really looking forward to another year working with ukyp! :-D
