ANNUAL SITTING 2012

The UKYP Annual Sitting 2012 took place in Nottingham over the weekend of 27-29 July. Over 250 MYPs gathered to debate issues; shape the UKYP Manifesto and the forthcoming House of Commons debate; meet other MYPs from across the country; and be trained in skills to enable them to effectively carry out their roles as representatives in their local areas.

MYPs heard from key speakers such as Jon Bercow MP, The Speaker of the House of Commons (pictutred above);  Peter Tatchell, Director of the Peter Tatchell Foundation; and Tim Loughton MP, Parliametary Under-secretary for Children and Families. MYPs left the event feeling motivated, inspired, and inevitably rather tired.

An evaluation report of the Annual Sitting 2012 can be downloaded here – Annual Sitting 2012 Evaluation Report.

This report is based on evaluation from MYPs, workers, PGs and BYC staff and contains a number of recommendations on how the Annual Sitting could be developed in the future.
