Name: James
Clark
Status:
MYP
Constituency: Suffolk
-------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I am most passionate about issues
concerning Homeland issues. These include things such as Immigration,
the NHS, Prisons and the Justice system. But education is also a
key issue that I feel extremely strongly about.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
For young people in my constituency
as with most rural areas in the UK there is a lack of facilities
specifically for young people. However through Halesworth Crime
Prevention Panel have become involved in many projects that try
to include young people in making decisions about what they want.
But drugs are also a problem, and that young people should be warned
of the effects from a younger age.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to help get more facilities
or projects up and running for young people all over North Suffolk.
But to also spread these projects to other parts of Suffolk and
the UK. I would also like to possibly lay the ground works for future
MYPs in North Suffolk.
What is your future career ambition?
I wish to in the future become a Politician.
I know it sounds corny but it is true. There are a lot of things
I want to see changed, but are not really the jurisdiction of the
General Public. But by entering the Youth Parliament it will give
an insight into the world of politics, and hopefully develop good
relations with MPs ready for when I leave University and enter the
realms of Politics.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I don't really have one. Although
I do have great respect for the Royal Family. Simply because in
this world of politics it is more and more difficult for Royal Families
to maintain any real presence. But as far as international relations
are concerned the Royal Family is the best asset we have. Our monarch
is probably the most respected anywhere and with thousands of visitors
to the UK each year to visit places such as the Tower of London
and Windsor our economy has a lot to thank the Royal Family for.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
My message would be: Do not generalise
young people. The majority of young people are good, law abiding
citizens and have a lot to offer to our nation, but by alienating
them and talking about the increasing amount of anti-social behaviour
amongst young people is not good. Not enough is said about the anti-social
behaviour shown by drunken adults rolling out of clubs at two in
the morning. Young people are our future. Do not turn them against
the government and other adults.
