Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I definitely feel the way in which the media portrays beauty is a major issue in today’s society. The media sets hopelessly high standards that can’t possibly be met by the average teenager; hence our self esteem plummets. We grow up in a society that forces us to believe our exterior matters more than whom we are as a person; this has to change.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I definitely feel the cost of transport for young people is ludicrously high – last year the Youth Parliament also supported this, however not enough was done and no real progress has been made. I therefore wish for the Youth Parliament to pursue this issue and hopefully this year a change will be made.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
Hopefully I will be able to put forward all the key issues that affect teenagers on a day to day basis. I hope to really make a difference.
What is your future career ambition?
I would love to study at Cambridge University, reading either English or Law. My main aspiration for the future is to become a successful barrister. Politics, however, is definitely a career path I would be willing to take.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I think Tyra Banks is a great role model. She is opinionated and inspires people to embrace who they are. She is a strong person with good morals and ethics and I admire her very much.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
The Youth Parliament has some great members this year, so give us the chance to change society for the better. Listen to what we have to say, you might even learn something from us ‘minors’.
Additional comments:
I would just like to thank everybody for giving me this great opportunity. My future as a full MYP is very exciting, and I hope I meet your expectations.
