Name: Alexander Lau
Position: MYP
Constituency: MYP
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
Giving young people a voice and teaching political education within the syllabus to help young people know more about the world they live in and to make better and more informed decisions in the future.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
Young people uninvolved with society and perhaps not making positive contributions either through lack of support or opportunity.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
To make young people understand the differences they can make to other people’s lives, even when they are not necessarily ‘adults’, and for them to take the initiative to do so within their borough.
What is your future career ambition?
Accountant or a job in the financial sector. I hope to do some volunteer work and perhaps teaching also as beneficial and rewarding experiences too.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Martin Luther King as he truly fought for his rights and showed us that against all odds, change can happen for the better, even if he lost his life for the greater good.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
What sort of compromises are you making to the general hardworking family? What do you plan to do about the high rate of unemployment and what justifications can you make for these decisions?
Additional comments:
I firmly believe that knowledge is power and that if we all agree as young people to learn more about politics in our country we can make a change in the future for future generations to come. In all of the poverty-stricken countries, there is always a lack of funding for education and this is why they stay in this poverty cycle. We should be grateful for our education and do all we can to further it so that we can grow up to be responsible, caring and knowledgeable adults.
