Which political issues are you most passionate about?

Fairness and equality. There are too many people in our country who are discriminated against and this means that some children have fewer chances than others. I want to fight racism, homophobia, disability and religious discrimination. To achieve this we all have to show more respect for each other.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

Newcastle is a very diverse city and some young people have fewer chances than others. These inequalities need to be tackled so that everyone has the chance to fulfil their potential.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

I hope to represent young people locally and nationally and change the negative attitudes that many people have about us. I also hope that other young people might find out that politics isn’t boring but is an important part of all our lives.

What is your future career ambition?

As I’m only 12 I’m still not sure. However I am quite interested in going into law or politics.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

Nelson Mandela. He showed a passionate determination to fight for equality in South Africa and sacrificed many decades of his life for other people. After apartheid was defeated he worked to build a fairer society.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

That young people have the potential to make a very positive contribution to making a better society.
