Name: Clare Calder
Position: MYP
Constituency: Brighton and Hove
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I am most passionate about ensuring equal and high quality health services for young people with physical and mental health problems.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
To be listened to by adults and have their views taken seriously on any issue they raise. Health and issues concerning money such as EMA benefits or fares on public transport are very important to the young people of Brighton and Hove.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I hope to achieve free recycling for schools in my local area, free/reduced fares on buses and trains, effective ways to tackle bullying and improve rights for young carers.
What is your future career ambition?
I would like to get into politics and hopefully get into government.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
I really admire Hilary Clinton for getting to the top of politics (almost) as well as putting up with Bill! I also admire Archbishop John Sentamu; because he is a great man of faith, a fearless campaigner for human rights and has a good sense of humour.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
To act effectively to end bullying and abuse of children and young people. I would like to see a children’s rights and legal advice centre in every city in the UK so children and young people can act to protect their own rights and safety.
Additional comments:
Sussex Country Cricket Club (The Sharks) are the best!!
