Name: Esme O’Hagen

Position: Deputy MYP

Constituency:
Portsmouth

Which political issues are you most passionate about?

I’m most passionate about the issues surrounding British immigration laws, and the standardisation of age, especially concerning transport costs.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

I believe the cost of public transport for young people is a major issue for people in my constituency, as 16 year olds find themselves subjected to the over-priced adult fares, yet in other situations, are not classed as adults. I feel that young people are classed as adults when it benefits the government in terms of generating revenue.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

I hope to decrease bus fares in Portsmouth for those ages 18 and under.

What is your future career ambition?

I hope to work in political journalism, potentially working in France, for a French publication later in life.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

I do not admire a particular person, yet I admire anyone who has the determination to stand for their beliefs, despite generalisations about things such as race or background that may stand in their way.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

‘Keep Calm and Carry On’.
