Name: Lauren Sharpe
Position: Deputy MYP
Constituency: East Sussex
--------------------------------------------------------
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
I think the fact that actually despite all the negative media representation, young people are not like they are perceived in the media, and if you look at UK Youth Parliament, it shows that not all of us are thugs and vandal the streets.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
I think that young people want improved transport, and to introduce a concessionary fare, so that travelling is a lot easier for us.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
I want to give my constituents the biggest voice possible and try and change the way many in my area think about us.
What is your future career ambition?
In the long run, I hope to stand in the 2013 county councillor elections, whilst being a PA, then hopefully go on to become MP and even Prime Minister.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
It HAS to be Sir Trevor Macdonald, for obvious reasons. He really does ‘tell it like it is’.
If there was one message you could
send to the government, what would it be?
Listen and most importantly ACT upon what YOUNG PEOPLE THINK, AND SAY!
Additional comments:
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me, my school, parents and the unite participation team, who support the local cabinet in my area.
